The Avon Building was recently converted for use as a home by Red Mountain Church in Birmingham’s Lakeview district.
The property owners decided that it was time to re-install a neon sign. I’m assuming they did it to announce the building’s presence to those driving along 7th Avenue South while giving folks a taste of what it might have been like to see it lit up on any given evening.
The structure once housed a theater and is currently used for worship as well as for rental space as permitted by the church.
According to BhamWiki, the building’s had an interesting life so far. One can only wonder what’s next for it.
