Random Shots: Football in Birmingham in December

Halftime performance during the inaugural PapaJohns.com Bowl, December 23, 2006

It would appear that most of the immediate concerns surrounding Birmingham, Alabama’s first bowl game in 16 years would be premature. Reports said that more than 40,000 tickets were sold for the Papajohns.com Bowl. We ended up getting tickets to the game at the last minute and there was an extremely large crowd, many from out of town, in the stands. The crowd at many of the area restaurants, including Dreamland BBQ, was steady, especially for those that wanted to talk about just how much better Carolina barbeque is. It’s optimistic to say that the images taken at the game will be posted later on tonight

Those of you that plan on trying out your new computers tomorrow morning will be happy to know that the site will be running on automatic pilot (so you will actually see posts, just don’t expect a response to comments until Tuesday afternoon at the earliest).

Enjoy tomorrow, and every day.

Merry Christmas!

Cheers.
