Random Shots: A view of the region

Birmingham, Alabama developed as a region; the sum of its parts is more important than it’s individual pieces. It’s an interesting thing to take note of Dr. Volker’s comment that I placed at the end of my post about the Birmingham Jaycees haunted house yesterday. While not necessarily the first thing that comes to mind, the map laid in the walk at the foot of Vulcan atop Red Mountain provides a great opportunity to see just how much of a region we were and still are.

It was not perfect, nor are we now. But it is a good reminder as to the potential for our region as we shift towards a continued rebirth to remember that we all need each other.

Cheers.
