A “Happy Hour for a Cause” wrap-up

Becky and myself on 8.29.2006

I’d like to thank everyone that came out last night for the “Happy Hour for a Cause” at WorkPlay. Just to let everyone know, we were able to raise $200 (so far) and collect approximately 8 bags worth of medical supplies for CAP’s Katrina Relief effort. This is not counting additional checks that I’ve told will be sent to the CAP office in the coming days. Click here to view images from last night’s event, or here to view the images I put up in my Flickr account.

The picture at the top of the post is of myself and Becky, the warehouse manager for CAP’s Katrina effort. She represents the volunteers that have helped during the past year, be it here, New Orleans, or elsewhere in the affected region. If nothing else, stop by the offices and tell them how much you appreciate what they’re doing.

I am thankful for those that were able to come and hopeful that those that did not are able to contribute in some shape or fashion. The need for continued focus on the aftermath of Katrina is necessary. The guys at the Times-Picayune in New Orleans have been able to tell the story of their city in a way that no one else can. I would invite you to visit this page (you will need Flash installed on your computer to view it). I would also invite you to take a look at the Smugmug photo set that I set up back in June to see why they still need our help not just in New Orleans but throughout the Gulf Coast region.

I will update later on today with a list of additional organizations that may be of interest to those that may still want to help, but were unable to attend last night. Thank you again.

Cheers.

BTW, those that are interested in seeing the new Confederate Motorcycles website, click here. It’s not the home page, but it’s the best part of the site.
