It was a quiet day here at the Ramblings yesterday. OK, not really. We’ve been attempting to begin the organization of… the Civic Organization Roundtable… the one that we’ve written about since earlier this year. A date, time and agenda have been set. News of this is actually some of the best I’ve had in some time, and I’ve definitely needed it for personal reasons. The purpose of the roundtable has always been to encourage dialogue more than anything else. The initial response has been incredible (and rapid), with 13 organizations being represented so far. Hopefully we’ll see more confirm for the event in the coming days. We’ll keep you updated about the progress as it becomes available.
This has always been a tenet of this blog, the idea of encouraging dialogue and communication among people. Hopefully this first step in dialogue among young professional and civic organizations will lead to more great things here in Birmingham.
Everyone that planned on going to see The Empire Strikes Back in Linn Park tonight by now has probably heard that threatening weather has postponed The Force from invading for another week. So maybe I’ll see you next Thursday night out at Linn Park.
I’ve also heard that several tickets remain for the Old Crow Medicine Show concert at the Alabama this evening. It may just be the alternative needed for those in the mood for what’s called alternative (though it sounds awfully traditional to me).
We’ll catch up on things tomorrow. Enjoy the day.
Cheers.
