Quinlan Castle has been in the local news recently. The 1927 apartment building is currently owned by the City of Birmingham. Four proposals have been turned in for the site in response to an Request for Proposals (RFP) from the city, with several different plans being considered according to a report in the Birmingham News last Saturday:

It’s ironic in some respects that the building that was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in the 1980s had an RFP that closed shortly before the state’s annual historic preservation conference came to town, complete with the president of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The good news is that the building will most likely remain standing though its use is up in the air. Hopefully it will be something worthy of its architectural stature in the community.
