Silvertron’s open, the race explained, ghouls need a hand and indy film gets another venue

As always, there’s a lot going on in town, and we only really tackle the tip of the iceberg here. As hinted at in last night’s last post, Bets and I went to the Silvertron Café for its grand re-opening. The interior is now a little brighter, with the walls repainted white. Many of the images that had been up previously are not there, however the menu has barely changed. Most of the items are there, with a couple of new additions. We seemed to just beat the evening rush and aside from some problems with them closing out our bill, it was a lot of fun. We ended up with leftovers, and most people were happy to see the doors reopened.

The fact that the Silvertron is open should be good news to some of the runners here in town, providing another option for meals the night before or right after a race. Speaking of which, the one item I forgot to include in yesterday’s post, thus solving the riddle of letting the races begin, is the fact that I’ve already received my e-mail reminding me that registration has opened for the Vulcan Run. The annual race, serving as the RRCA National 10K Championship Race for 2007, has set up registration online at active.com and has entry forms available for downloading. I’m excited because I have been told that I can enter the race and use it as my first one since injuring the knee in May! It will be a case of finishing rather than worrying about a time to beat. The race benefits the Birmingham Track Club and Vulcan Park, where the big guy himself looks over the Magic City and the region. We’ll keep you posted about race status.

More after the jump…
