Today is runoff Election Day throughout the state of Alabama. One of the closely watched races in the state is the Democratic primary in the state house district where I live, District 54. The person that wins that race tonight will have won the seat as there is no Republican candidate. It’s also been announced that our high temperature will be 100 with a heat index of 105. Hopefully this will not serve as the excuse du jour for not going out and voting today.
I currently live in a state where the motto is “We Dare Defend Our Rights.” If that is the case, then we need to defend them by making sure that our voices are heard. With so many great things beginning to take shape here, it would be ashamed to see things potentially stall due to apathetic citizenry. Get out and vote! Maybe you’ll even get one of those stickers today, though it could melt onto your clothes because of the heat.
