Things have definitely changed in the realm of banking in Birmingham, Alabama in the last two years. Firs, the purchase of SouthTrust by Wachovia, now the merger of AmSouth and Regions completed over the weekend. This image is the first one of the two banks’ towers at night with their new signage affixed. If you look close enough, you will see the former Regions type logo in the lower right corner of the image.

The short term effects are quite noticeable; the question is will people see long term benefits from the deal. Time will tell.
