When I first arrived here in Birmingham, I took a great deal of pictures. Sometimes you wonder why these images were taken in the first place. As we begin the Year of Alabama Arts, some of these images begin to take on a greater meaning. While the official mini-site has not been set up as of yet, this link will give you a pretty good idea about what’s planned for the next twelve months.

These were taken during the 2005 ONB Magic City Art Connection. The images above depict quilt makers from Gee’s Bend showcasing their craft and artistry. If you want to learn more about the quilt makers and their quilts, please click here.

With all the art that exists in this state, it only seems fitting that we shine our spotlight on them whenever possible in the coming months. Stay tuned for more.

Cheers.
